Mobile's Building & Land Development Center
Residential (1 & 2 Family)
If you're doing work on a house or duplex such as electrical work, remodeling, a new garage or deck or any other construction, you'll need to:
-
Look Up the Property (zoning / Historic District status/ size of work/flood zone)
- Size of work/imperviousness: If amount of impervious area (driveway, sidewalk, gravel, roof (house and garage), shed, etc.) constructed on the site (post 1984) is greater than 4000 square feet, land disturbance permit is required.
- Flood zone: If the site is in a flood zone, depending on the size of the work being done either a single family residential affidavit or a single family land disturbance permit is required.
- If the work is less than 4000 square feet, a single family residential affidavit can be submitted.
- If the work is greater than 4000 square feet, a land disturbance permit will have to be submitted.
