Internal Affairs Unit
Each officer of the Mobile Police Department takes a sworn oath that forbids misconduct and corruption. It is the Internal Affairs Unit that holds all officers accountable for their actions.
The Internal Affairs Unit investigates complaints of misconduct by officers and provides background checks of departmental employees to ensure the highest levels of professionalism in the police force. Also, all cases resulting in the discharge of an officer’s firearm are investigated by the Internal Affairs Unit, as well as cases involving officers injured or killed, whether on- or off-duty.
