Legal Advocate
The special legal powers of police officers require that they stay abreast of changes in law both locally and nationally. The Legal Advocate keeps the department apprised of changes in city, state and national laws, and court decisions that directly affect law enforcement. In addition, the department receives numerous requests each day under the Freedom of Information Act and the legal Advocate reviews them to ensure that requested information is not prematurely released.
