The Support Services Division is commanded by a major who is subordinate to the deputy chief of the Support Services Bureau.

The Support Services Section, which is commanded by a captain, consists of:

  1. Impound Yard Detail
  2. Training Unit
  3. Firearms & Range Unit
  4. Communications Unit
  5. Property and Records Unit
  6. Warrants Detail
  7. Building Maintenance






The Data Entry Detail is subordinate to the Chief Records Clerk. The Data Entry Detail:

  1. Enters all investigative reports into the Mobile Police Department computer system.
  2. Enters and oversees all submissions to the Alabama Criminal Justice Information System.
  3. Maintains a Quality Assurance Program for the Records Unit, ensuring that all documents meet high standards of accuracy and completeness.
  4. Assures that all data interfaces smoothly with other law enforcement computer systems.





    The Warrants Unit is responsible for servicing arrest warrants and processing of related paperwork.

    The Building Maintenance Unit is responsible for general maintenance of the electrical, mechanical, plumbing and safety systems, and makes regular inspections of all buildings to ensure proper condition of these systems.

    The Property Unit is responsible for maintaining inventory and control of all department property and for disposing of property according to procedural guidelines. The Property Unit is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays.
