Bridge over Eslava Creek Reopened, Dedicated to Fallen Soldier

With more than a week and a half of Holiday shopping left, the City of Mobile has reopened the bridge on Bel Air Boulevard that crosses Eslava Creek. With its close proximity to Colonial Mall Bel Air, the bridge handles a traffic load of about 15,000 cars each day.

In addition, the bridge has been dedicated in memory of Cpl. Christopher Edward Mason, a soldier from Mobile who was killed in action in Iraq last month. Cpl. Mason, a Baker High School graduate, was a member of the United States Army’s 82nd Airborne Division.

“It is an honor to dedicate this bridge to Cpl. Mason, a young man who displayed the best of what an America should be,” said Mayor Sam Jones.

“Everyone who crosses this bridge will remember Christopher Mason, and the tremendous impact he has made on this City, this State, and this Country,” Council President Reggie Copeland added.
