A Message from Mayor Stimpson - September 24

Good evening,

It is 9:00 p.m. on September 24, and I am writing to give you an update from the City of Mobile.

Today, the Mobile County Health Department reports 13,309 COVID-19 cases, an increase of 41 cases. To review the detailed report, click here.

Many of you have asked when the City of Mobile recycling centers will open again. For those who aren't aware, our recycling centers are currently closed because the center where we take our recycling is located in Pensacola and was heavily damaged during Hurricane Sally. Currently this center is projected to open in mid - late October. We are monitoring closely for more specific updates.

In the meantime, those of you driving around with full recycling bins can drop off at the Mobile County Recycling Center. Please note that this center is not able to take commingled items and does have some sorting requirements which can be found on their website. Click here for more information.

This is the LAST WEEK to fill out the US Census. The Census is critical to our community and provides essential federal funding that impacts every single one of us. If you have already filled out the Census yourself, we need your help reminding your friends, family, and coworkers. Please ask every person you interact with over the next 6 days if they have filled out the Census. Those who haven't filled it out can do so by going to www.2020Census.gov.

In closing, we often talk about why it is so important to complete the Census, with references to dollar figures and community programming. It is really about helping your family and the people in your community. The truth is that in the next 6 days, completing the Census or encouraging others to do so is one of the kindest things you can do to love your neighbor. Taking just a few moments to fill out the form or help someone else remember is a simple gesture that will positively impact the lives of everyone around you. It is that important

Sleep tight!
