MOBILE, AL – The Mobile City Council’s Ad Hoc Animal Shelter Citizens’ Advisory Committee will hold a public hearing on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 3:30 p.m. The meeting will be held on the second floor of the Ben May Library located at 701 Government Street.

Committee Chair Terri Mitchell said the purpose of the meeting is to receive input from the community and to hear what Mobilians would like to see happen regarding issues with animals as well as the animal shelter.

“The committee’s job is to make recommendations. We want the public’s input on what they’d like to see in the future,” said Mitchell. “We urge Mobilians to be part of the positive future for animals in Mobile.”

Mitchell added that this is not the forum to air past grievances. She said the committee’s goal is to take those experiences and figure out how the city can do better in the future.

Anyone who has an issue or concern regarding the shelter and the welfare of animals in the city can email: shelter.comments2021@yahoo.com. Those concerns will be read publicly and made available for review.
