Applications for Mobile’s Critical Repair Program opening on July 1
Mobile, Ala. — Beginning Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the City of Mobile’s Neighborhood Development Department will start accepting applications for its Critical Repair Program.
This initiative is designed to assist qualifying homeowners in Mobile with essential repairs, including exterior roof replacements. Using federal funds, the Critical Repair Program provides financial assistance to homeowners who meet specific income requirements. The program helps address major repair needs that, if left unaddressed, can lead to property deterioration and the spread of urban blight.
To qualify, applicants must:
· Own and occupy the home in need of repairs
· Reside within the City Limits of Mobile
· Possess a legal Will or be willing to work with Alabama Legal Services to secure one
· Meet income guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
Applications will be accepted based on a needs-based system that prioritizes homes with the most urgent repair needs. Special consideration will be given to homeowners who are extremely low-income, elderly, or disabled. Only a limited number of applications will be accepted.
Applications will be available in person at the Levon C. Manzie Neighborhood Resource Center located on 110 N. Lafayette St. Mobile, AL 36604 beginning at 8 a.m. on July 1. The only thing needed to apply is a valid proof of residency. Approved applicants will receive further instruction.
For more information, please contact the Neighborhood Development Department at (251) 208-6294.
