Major Improvements Coming Soon to Mill Street Park

Council Expected to Approve Latest CIP Contract

Mobile, AL – The City Council is expected to approve a contract this morning, sponsored by Councilman Fred Richardson, which will bring major improvements to Mill Street Park in Crichton.

The extensive upgrades include the installation of a pavilion with picnic tables and benches, new trash receptacles, two grills and a drinking fountain. In addition, sidewalks will be installed to provide accessibility to the existing play structure and new shade trees will be planted.

“These much needed and deserved upgrades will make an enormous difference for all those members of the community who use and would like to use this park,” said Councilman Richardson. “Our parks are incredibly important to our neighborhoods and I’m not going to stop until we have addressed needed upgrades at every park in District One.”

The $90,000 contract, with Aeiker Construction Corporation, is the latest of the District One Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) projects for Fiscal Year 2016 to come up before the Council.

The City Council created the CIP fund to tackle major infrastructure projects throughout the city. The projects are funded through the extension of the penny sales tax.
