Major Initiative Targets Revitalization of

Parks & Recreation Centers in District 2

Mobile, AL – Councilman Levon Manzie has kicked-off an initiative to revitalize the parks and community centers across District 2.

"Our parks and community centers are the hearts of our neighborhoods," said Councilman Levon Manzie. "When we invest in these facilities, we are investing in our community. And, I am proud to be investing every dollar we can in them."

Councilman Manzie allocated nearly $200,000 for improvements to Crawford-Murphy Park, Lyons Park, Harmon Recreation Center and Springhill Recreation Center from the 2015-2016 Capital Improvement Plan.

Manzie has slated an additional $1 million for major upgrades to Harmon Park, Rickarby Park, Rickarby Center, Sullivan's Park and Center, Hope Community Center and the Springhill Recreation Center from the 2017-2018 Capital Improvement Plan fund.

Earlier this week, the City Council approved a contract for much needed interior work at the Springhill Recreation Center – including repairs, painting and upgrades.
