Oral Examination

PHASE III - The Oral Examination 

In the oral examination a panel of evaluators will interview you. This is your opportunity to sell yourself the oral examination panel is interested in any prior education, training, or experience you may have, as well as your reasons for seeking a career in the Fire Service.

After testing, you are ranked on a list of eligible candidates for potential future hiring.

After an offer of employment is made, candidates must first pass a medical exam, which consists of a drug screening. Once hired, candidates must successfully complete twenty (20) weeks of intense mental and physical training. Ten (10) weeks Emergency Medical Technician training and approximately ten (10) weeks of basic firefighting training. Successful completion of this phase is essential to completing the entrance examination process.
