Cary J. Hunter Named Firefighter of the Month for April

The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department (MFRD) proudly announces that Captain Cary J. Hunter has been named Firefighter of the Month for April. Captain Hunter is assigned to the Emergency Medical Services Division, where he oversees the management of controlled substances, acts as a stroke liaison, and handles DHR referrals for cases involving potential neglect or abuse.

Cary HunterHis supervisor, Jared Parker, District Chief of Emergency Medical Services, said Captain Hunter always goes above and beyond expectations daily to ensure all needs are met. “He has been an asset to this department and the citizens we serve for his entire career,” he said.

Captain Hunter began his journey with Mobile Fire-Rescue in 2000, inspired by childhood friends already serving in the department and a deep-seated desire to continue his public service after serving seven years in the U.S. Army.

Captain Hunter, who has been with the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department since 2000, is also a paramedic, hazardous materials technician, rescue technician, and a swift water rescue swimmer.

For his outstanding service, dedication to continuous improvement, and unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of the Mobile community, Captain Hunter is a deserving recipient of the Firefighter of the Month honor.
