Mobile Fire-Rescue Department units were dispatched at 6:24 p.m. for a report of an apartment fire in the 400 block of Clay Street in Mobile, Alabama, Sunday evening, August 4, 2024.
Engine 3 arrived on scene to find light smoke showing from the eaves of a 4-unit brick apartment building. Units made entry into the unit and found that a fire in a closet had extended into the attic. Firefighters extinguished the fire and searched for any people inside. No one was found.
District 1, Engine 14, Engine 3, Engine 8, Rescue 3, Truck 17, Truck 4, Car 80, District 3, Engine 12, Engine 2 and Rehab 1 were dispatched to the scene.
The fire cause was determined to be accidental.
