Mobile Fire-Rescue Department units were dispatched at 1:47 a.m. for a report of a residential fire in the first block of South Hallett Street in Mobile, Alabama, early Sunday morning, April 7, 2024.
Units arrived on scene to find fire showing on the right side of the two-story, wood frame-residence near the electrical meter. The residents had already evacuated.
Firefighters extinguished the outside fire, which kept reigniting, until Alabama Power arrived and cut power to the residence. Personnel made entry to the inside to check for any extension into the wall or the attic. Crews used a thermal imaging camera to ensure all hotspots were extinguished.
The investigator determined that the fire was accidental in nature, caused by an electrical malfunction. No one was injured in the incident.
