Mobile Fire-Rescue Department units were dispatched for a report of a residential fire in the 1800 block of Harrington Way at about 9:41 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2024, in Mobile, Alabama.
Units arrived on scene to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the back side of a single story residence. Further inspection revealed an exterior enclosed kennel that was fully involved with flames extending to the corner of the residence.
Crews extinguished the fire and stopped it from spreading further into the residence. No firefighters were injured in the incident, but several dogs died as a result of the fire, which investigators determined to be accidental in nature.
