MOBILE, Ala. – At approximately 13:33 hours, Mobile Fire-Rescue Department crews responded to the 100 block of Mobile Street, where a resident reported smoke and flames present in a bedroom. Prior to MFRD arrival on scene, all occupants safely evacuated the single-story, residential structure.

A resident advised that she was asleep and awakened by the smell of smoke. She discovered flames in her bedroom and made attempts to extinguish the fire herself prior to calling for emergency assistance. Fire companies arrived on scene to large amounts of smoke flowing from the home.

In approximately 15-minutes, firefighters were able to fully suppress flames before ventilating the residence of smoke and gases. No injuries were reported from the scene.

Fire Investigators have deemed the cause of the incident as an accidental electrical fire.
