Mobile Fire-Rescue Department units were dispatched at about 3:49 p.m. for a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a school bus and a passenger vehicle in the 6400 block of Airport Boulevard Friday afternoon, March 8, 2024.
Units arrived on scene to find a vehicle that had collided with the rear of a bus. Firefighters established a safe zone around the scene of the collision and assessed all people on board and the driver of the car.
Two students and an attendant were on board the bus and were buckled in. They were evaluated at the scene, reported no injuries and were picked up by parents. The bus driver was treated and transported by Mobile Fire-Rescue to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The male driver of passenger vehicle was evaluated and reported no injuries.
Mobile County Public School System had two supervisors who also responded to the incident. As of 4:30 p.m., MFRD is still on scene awaiting a tow truck for the bus.
