Mobile Fire-Rescue Department’s Engine 26 was dispatched at about 7:09 a.m. for a report of a brush fire in the area of the 7200 block of Old Shell Road in Mobile, Alabama, Thursday, February 29, 2024.
While en route, Engine 26 noted a large column of smoke and called for a full fire response in order to dispatch additional firefighting units to the scene. Engine 26 arrived to find two trailer homes on fire, with one fully involved.
Other units arrived and personnel extinguished the fire and stopped it spreading further. Primary and secondary searches for any victims inside were all clear, with no one found.
While working the incident, a firefighter was injured and transported to Providence Hospital for evaluation where he was treated and released.
The fire remains under investigation at this time.
