Mar 17th, 2022

MOBILE, Ala. – At approximately 1:12 PM, Mobile Fire-Rescue Department companies were dispatched to the 500 block of Palmer Street for reports of a residence on fire in the area. Upon arrival on scene, fire personnel described a single-story residence with heavy flames present in the eaves and through the roof.

Fire suppression teams immediately entered the structure with charged 1 ¾ hose lines to begin the initial fire attack. Search & rescue personnel swept through the home, confirming that all occupants had successfully evacuated prior to MFRD arrival.

Firefighters continued to battle the blaze via combined interior and exterior attacks. After approximately 28 minutes, all signs of flames had been successfully extinguished.

The fire was discovered to have originated from a grill on the side of the residence, allowing flames to extend into the attic prior to fire department arrival.

There were no civilians or firefighters injured during the incident.

The property will be deemed uninhabitable and a total loss, leaving the family displaced. The cause of the fire has been ruled accidental.
