Mobile Fire-Rescue Department units were dispatched at 5:46 p.m. for a report of a watercraft in distress with two people in the water in Mobile Bay near the 7600 block of Lake Road South south of Mobile, Alabama, Wednesday, March 20, 2024. The call came in from the Port Authority.
Firefighters arrived on scene to find two occupants had fallen into the water when their small motorboat capsized. They were able to get themselves safely out of the water to a nearby pier.
They were evaluated by personnel on scene with no apparent injuries and were not transported to the hospital.
District 2, Engine 2, Engine 20, Engine 7, Fire Boat 2, Marine 20, Rescue 19 and Car 83 were dispatched.
Fire Boat 2 and Marine 20 were canceled before arriving on scene.
