5:02 p.m. — Incident command for the scene has now been shut down and units are back in service.
A fire line has been cut around the fire, containing hotspots. Within the burned area, hotspots are expected to smolder and emit smoke until they burn out.
Firefighters were able to stop the fire early on in a couple of areas where very small spot fires had started on the west side of the road, near a couple of homes.
No injuries were reported, and no structures were damaged.
3:35 p.m. — Mobile Fire-Rescue Department units were dispatched at about 1:30 p.m. for a report of a woods fire in the 5900 block on the east side of Old Rangeline Road Monday afternoon, August 26, 2024.
Engine 7, Brush 1, Truck 10, Engine 28 and District 2 have been dispatched from MFRD and are currently on scene at the incident.
Other agencies assisted with the fire, including Theodore Dawes Fire Department, St. Elmo Fire department and the Alabama Forestry Commission.
The fire has been contained, but hotspots within the woods continue to smolder and smoke. Units are being released from the scene when no longer needed.
