Good evening,
It is 9 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4 and I am writing to give you an update from the City of Mobile.
As of tonight, Mobile County reported a total of 9,273 COVID positive individuals, an increase of 86 individuals from yesterday. According to the Mobile County Health Department, a total of 204 patients have died due to COVID-19. For a detailed look at today's data click here.
We have seen a dramatic decrease in cases over the past two days. It is not time to let down our guard. The virus is still very active in our community. Together we can prevent an increase in COVID-19 cases by following these simple steps to stay safe:
- Wear a mask when in public
- Keep your hands clean
- Avoid crowds and keep a safe distance from others
- Stay home if you are sick
Mobile's momentum continues. Tonight, I am excited to report the following:
- Today I presented a proclamation recognizing the 230th anniversary of the Coast Guard, specifically honoring Sector Mobile. The U.S. Coast Guard Sector Mobile supports a wide range of Coast Guard operations including search and rescue, maritime law enforcement, marine environmental protection, aids to navigation, and ports, waterways and coast security. Sector Mobile conducted 284 search and rescue cases, 191 lives have been saved, 312 lives have been assisted, saved $1.6 million dollars of property and assisted over $2.4 million dollars of property in 2020.I was thrilled to present this proclamation and formally proclaim today Coast Guard Day in the City of Mobile.
