In an effort to minimize waste and reduce the amount of waste sent to the landfill, the City of Mobile Parks and Recreation Department is implementing a recycling program, with the first trial taking place at Herndon-Sage Park.

In addition to the traditional garbage carts already in place, recycling receptacles will be placed throughout the park, including at entrances, in common gathering places and near concession stands.
Initially ONLY PLASTIC BOTTLES will be recycled. All other garbage will be disposed of via our normal garbage disposal process.
The goal is to expand this program to include other recyclable material as well as other City parks. Recycling receptacles will be placed at Herndon-Sage Park by the end of January.
