Message from the Chief
Welcome! On behalf of the men and women of the Mobile Fire Rescue Department, I would like to thank you for visiting our website. It is my sincere hope that this website will provide you with the opportunity to connect with the Department and gain a greater understanding of the services we provide to our community. Take a few minutes to learn more about our department's structure, services, mission, goals and objectives.
The first duty of government is the protection of its citizens. Governments at all levels exist in order to provide this fundamental service. As early as 1819, Mobilians began to organize themselves in order to try to protect lives and property in the form of volunteer fire companies. Mobile Fire Department established itself as a paid department in 1888, and over the course of the past 129 years has done an exemplary job in the protection of its citizens.
The Mobile Fire Rescue Department has evolved over the years in accordance with the needs of its citizens. Firefighting has always been at the core of this service, and the addition of prehospital care, as well as several rescue specialties, has stretched the Department into all hazard response organization.
The members of the Mobile Fire Rescue Department are proud of its rich history and its tradition of excellence. As we move forward with the department, our goal is to continue strengthening our partnership with the community as we provide the highest quality of service and safety to those we serve.
It is my honor and I am truly thankful to serve as your Fire Chief. I consider myself fortunate to work with a caring, well-trained, and enthusiastic team of exceptional young men and women who have made a commitment to serve the outstanding citizens and visitors of Mobile.
Again, thank you for visiting our webpage; we welcome your comments and look forward to serving you in the future.
