Although the work is tough, firefighting is a highly rewarding career providing a vital service to the community. Professional Firefighters work as a team at fire scenes, medical emergencies and other potential life threatening emergencies to protect life and property. Firefighters wear special protective gear in extremely hot and hazardous environments. They must work quickly while handling heavy equipment for long periods of time. Firefighters must be in good health and excellent physical and mental condition to meet the demands of this job.

While on shift, Firefighters clean and maintain the station, fire apparatus and other equipment, train on firefighting/medical skills and techniques, participate in physical fitness training, prepare their meals and remain ready to respond to alarms at all times. Firefighters face dangerous working conditions such as: Hazardous Materials, Electricity, and Building Collapse. In addition, fire and smoke are an ever-present danger. But firefighters undergo extensive training to help in all these conditions and keep them safe from harm.
Specialized work in the operations of Mobile Fire-Rescue Department Communications System. Responsible for operating a computer aided dispatch system, central departmental radio, and alarm equipment.
