COVID-19 Pandemic Resources & Tips

Mar 19th, 2020

COVID-19 is a pandemic affecting the lives of thousands around the world. As Alabama ramps up its testing and treatment capabilities, the City of Mobile and surrounding areas are taking unprecedented measures to slow the spread of the virus. Schools are closed, businesses are adjusting, and people are being asked to work from home.

The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department is committed to the health and safety of the public, as we continue to tackle the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation. We are doing our best, and we ask that you all do your part to proactively prevent the spread of the Coronavirus disease. The Coronavirus has the potential to spread from person-to-person very quickly.

Here are a few things that you can do help slow the spread of the virus:

  • Wash your hands for 20-seconds with soap and water as often as possible throughout the day
  • Keep your mouth covered when you need to sneeze or cough. Avoid sneezing or coughing into your hands.
  • Disinfect surfaces, handles, knobs, and more around your home and work.
  • Actively practice social-distancing. Stay home as often as you can. Because the virus has the potential to spread to other people very quickly, do your best to distance yourself from others when you can.

Mobile Fire-Rescue is committed to you 24/7, no matter the circumstances. We are sanitizing and disinfecting our stations and trucks before and after each call. We’re wearing additional layers of personal protective equipment, including surgical gowns and masks, face shields, and gloves.

There are so many other women and men working hard to take care of the rest of us – health care workers, doctors, nurses, delivery drivers, first responders, grocery workers, and more. Now, more than ever, is the time to have an abundance of compassion, understanding, and patience for one another. So let’s all do our part to take care of each other and prevent this virus from spreading.
