Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (334) 208-5806/Fax: (334) 208-5813 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org FIRE DAMAGES APARTMENT Mobile Fire-Rescue Units responded to an apartment fire this Wednesday morning, February 28, 2001, located at 6880 Carol Plantation Road. The call was received at approximately 8:39 a.m. reporting black smoke coming from under the door of apartment A-7. Firefighters arrived at approximately 8:47 a.m. and discovered a small fire in the bedroom of the second floor apartment. The fire appears to have originated in the bedroom of the apartment and spread up the wall to the drapes. There was some heat and smoke damage to the remainder of the apartment. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported and the damage is estimated at approximately $3,000. No one was home at the time of the fire. Engines 7, 6, 19, truck 24, rescue 7 and District 4 Chief Harold Miller responded. ###
