FIRE IN VACANT HOUSE APPEARS TO BE INTENTIONAL
A fire in a vacant house under repair, located at 1810 Kibby Street, appears to have been intentionally set on fire. The fire was reported, after being discovered by a neighbor, Thursday morning, February 8, 2001 at approximately 4:40 a.m. Mobile Firefighters arrived on the scene at approximately 4:44 a.m. and reported fire showing from the front and side of the single story, wood frame structure. The fire appears to have originated on the front porch of the structure and spread to the East Side of the exterior, attic and into the house on the North side. The fire appears to have been intentionally set and caused an estimated $20 thousand in damage. The cause remains under investigation. The owner of the house is Chester Dees, Sr. No injuries were reported. Engines 8, 9, 23, truck 17, rescue 23 and District 1 Chief Martin Stanley responded.
