FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND TO HOUSE FIRE
Mobile firefighters were called to a fire in a residence located at 5571 Will Casher Lane Tuesday, October 9, 2001. The call was received at approximately 10:09 a.m. and firefighters arrived on the scene at approximately 10:16 a.m. reporting heavy smoke and fire coming from the single story, wood frame structure. The house is owned and occupied by Arlis and Mary Jackson. The fire appears to have originated in the living room in a fireplace that had a natural gas heater present in the fireplace. The fire extended throughout the structure causing approximately $35 thousand in damage. The cause of the fire has not been determined as of yet. No injuries were reported. Engines 7, 16, 19, truck 24, rescue 7 and District 4 Chief Mark Hansberry responded.
