Mobile Fire-Rescue Department units were dispatched for a report of a residential fire at about 7:34 a.m. Saturday morning, February 1, 2025, in the 400 block of George Street in Mobile, Alabama.
Crews arrived on scene to find heavy smoke and fire showing from the front of a single story, wood frame home split into three apartments.
Firefighters extinguished the fire and performed searches inside all living spaces to make sure no victims were inside. None were found, but one person was treated on scene.
After an investigation, the fire was determined to be accidental, ignited by a space heater.
