The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department proudly recognizes Fire Service Driver Gregory Jones, Sr as the December 2025 Firefighter of the Month.

Driver Gregory Jones joined the Department in February of 1994, serving on many of the City of Mobile’s busiest, frontline engines before promoting to the rank of Driver in 2007. For the past 16 years, Jones has remained committed to the mission while being assigned as the Driver/Operator of Engine 22 in the heart of the City.

Throughout the entirety of his career, Driver Jones has intentionally placed himself in position to do the greatest good for the largest number of people. Embracing the fast-paced demands of the fire-EMS service and never shying away from a challenging assignment, Driver Jones stands out in every emergency response in which he is involved. He regularly leads with integrity and professionalism, serving as stalwart examples to all.

Whether on scene or around the station, Jones’ experience and knowledge shine daily, as he serves as a mentor to firefighters of all ranks and skill levels. Even outside of the fire service, Jones dedicates much of his personal time to mentoring and coaching young men and women in our communities. He epitomizes what it means to live with a servant’s heart – actively involved in youth sports, consistently offering guidance, encouragement, and positive direction to all he encounters for the future of Mobile.
