Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-5806/Fax: (251) 208-5813 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org EARLY MORNING HOUSE FIRE, NO INJURIES REPORTED Mobile Firefighters responded to a house fire early Thursday morning, December 2, 2004 which was located at 1523 Devonshire Drive. Mobile Fire-Rescue Department received the call at approximately 4:49 a.m. and fire-rescue units reported on the scene at approximately 4:55 a.m. with a structure heavily involved with fire. The fire appears to have originated in a 1998 Buick Park Avenue, which was parked in the garage of the one-story wood frame with brick veneer siding, structure. The fire extended to the ceiling of the garage, the attic space, then into the main structure to the West and the utility room to the North. There was heavy thermal damage inside the living room and kitchen area with various degrees of heat and smoke damage throughout the remainder of the structure. A passerby saw the vehicle on fire, alerted the occupants, Tiffany Cook and Daryl Evans and called 911. Both occupants escaped without apparent injury. The fire, which caused an estimated $75 thousand in damage, is being ruled accidental. No injuries were reported. Engines 9, 16, 19, truck 24, rescue 24 and District Chief Martin Stanley responded to the call. ###
