Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org HOUSE FIRE CHERRY OAK COURT Firefighters and fire investigators are on the scene of a house fire located at 8528 Cherry Oak Court that occurred this afternoon, Tuesday, August 16. The call was received at approximately 1:29 p.m. When firefighters arrived they reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the side, rear and roof of the single story, wood frame with vinyl siding house. The heat from the fire also melted the vinyl siding on the houses to both sides and rear of the structure. No one was home at the time of the fire. Witnesses told fire investigators they saw smoke and/or fire near the rear of the structure. Investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the fire which remains under investigation. No damage estimate is available at this time. No injuries were reported. More information will be forwarded as it becomes available. Engines 6, 18, 22, 26; truck 27; rescue 22 and District Chief Robert Thornton responded. The Bureau of Fire Prevention is investigating the fire. ###
