Intentionally Set Fire to Outside of Church

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org INTENTIONALLY SET FIRE TO OUTSIDE OF CHURCH Mobile fire investigators are currently investigating a fire that appears to have been intentionally set Tuesday morning, June26 to the outside of the Liveoak Missionary Baptist Church located at 401 South Broad Street. A passerby called 911 reporting what appeared to be a “trash” fire in front of the church at approximately 2:39 a.m. Firefighters arrived on the scene shortly after dispatch and reported a small fire burning up the outside wall of the church and quickly extinguished it. Firefighters forced entry into the building and discovered there was no fire spread to the inside. Preliminary evidence indicates the fire was intentionally set. Damage is estimated at approximately $3 thousand. No injuries were reported. Anyone with information regarding the fire is ask to call the Bureau of Fire Prevention at 208-7484, 208-7311 or the Arson Hotline at 208-MFRD. Engine 3 and Truck 4 responded to the call. The Bureau of Fire Prevention is conducting the investigation. ###
