MOBILE FIRE CHIEF TO LEAD FIRE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION
Mobile Fire Chief Stephen A. Dean was installed as the President of the Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs (SEAFC) a division of the International Association of Fire Chiefs. The election was held at the association's 75th annual conference in Roanoke, Virginia the week of June 12-14, 2003. Dean will serve as President for a term of one (1) year. Some of his responsibilities will include serving as the official representative and spokesperson for the association, serving as Chairperson of the Board of Directors, preside at meetings of the Association and the meetings of the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. He will also be responsible for appointing all committees not otherwise provided for in the Constitution and By-Laws. Dean has been serving as 1st Vice President for the past year.
Dean has been with the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department for approximately 28 years and has been Chief of the department since June of 1999. He has a BPS degree in Fire Administration from Memphis State University and a Master of Public Administration from the University of South Alabama.
The mission of SEAPAC is to provide leadership, education, information, and networking to career and volunteer chief fire officers and managers of Emergency Service Organizations throughout the southeast. SEAPAC is composed of members residing in the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
