Mobile Firefighters Heading to New York

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-5806/Fax: (251) 208-5813 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org MOBILE FIREFIGHTERS HEADING TO NEW YORK Six members of the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department and it's Medical Control Doctor, who are assigned to FEMA's (Federal Emergency Management Agency) DMAT (Disaster Medical Assistance Team), have been activated to go to New York City to assist with the rescue and recovery effort. They will be at arriving at Mobile Regional Airport at approximately 4:45 a.m. and departing approximately 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2001. From there they will be joining other team members of the Florida Region DMAT in Atlanta. They are scheduled to arrive in New York City sometime tomorrow. Those members heading to New York are: Deputy Chief Doug Sims, EMT-P; Captain Randy Smith, EMT-P; Captain George Watson, EMT-P; Firemedic Tony Rutland, EMT-P; Fire Inspector Chip Curreri, EMT-P; Firefighter Jeff Turner, EMT and Dr John McMahan, M.D. DMAT Team's are comprised of firefighters who are Paramedics or EMT's (Emergency Medical Technicians), Doctors and Nurses ###
