The accidental fire was caused by an overheated electrical outlet in the living room of the first floor apartment. A mattress from a bed located in the room was pushed up against the outlet which caught the mattress on fire. The female occupant, who was asleep at the time, was alerted by her four-year-old son of the fire after he saw sparks and smoke coming from the mattress while watching television. The female occupant broke out a window, cutting her arm, to escape with her two-year-old and four-year-old sons. The children received no injuries. ###
