Bayou Concrete Worker Injured in Fall

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-5806/Fax: (251) 208-5813 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org BAYOU CONCRETE WORKER INJURED IN FALL Mobile Fire-Rescue Units responded to Bayou Concrete located at 3151 Hamliton Blvd Tuesday morning, June 29, 2004 for a report of one fallen into a rail car. The call was received at approximately 7:57 a.m. and first units arrived at approximately 8:05 a.m. Firefighters discovered a 58 year old male employee who apparently slipped and fell approximately 12 feet inside of an empty rail car. Firefighters treated and packaged the patient inside the rail car and placed him in a stokes basket and brought up by crane. The patient was complaining of back pain and possibly some broken fingers. Injuries did not appear to be life threatening and he was transported by Rescue 7 to USA Medical Center at approximately 8:51 a.m. Responding units were Engines 7, 8, Truck 17, Technical Rescue 17, Rescue 7 and District 2 Chief Don Meyers. Last unit on the scene until approximately 9:10 a.m. ###
