Belvedere Drive Residential Fire

Firefighters extinguish residential fire hotspots.

Mobile Fire-Rescue Department units were dispatched at about 12:51 p.m. for a report of a residential fire in the 1000 block of Belvedere Drive in Mobile, Alabama, Thursday, May 15, 2025.

Engine 9 arrived on scene to find heavy smoke visible from the rear roof of a single-story brick veneer residence with fire visible through the door. Additional firefighters arrived on scene and crews made entry into the residence to find the seat of the fire to extinguish it and make sure no one was inside.

A woman and young child were home at the time of the fire, but got out safely. The child and mother were transported by MFRD to a hospital to be checked out.

Firefighters brought the fire under control, but the home suffered fire damage and extensive water and smoke damage throughout. The home was equipped with smoke alarms.

Districts 1 and 2 chiefs, Engines 9, 16, 2, 23, Truck 24, Rescues 19 and 8, and Car 80 responded to the incident. Crews cleared up around and left the scene around 2:47 p.m. after extinguishing all hotspots.

The fire is under investigation at this time. There were no reports of any firefighter injuries.
