COMMUNITY COMES TO FIREFIGHTERS AID
Three individuals came to the aid of Mobile Firefighters after a break in at the Henry J. Reid (21) Fire Station, located at 512 Stimrad Road, that occurred sometime between Saturday, April 28 and Sunday, April 29, 2001. Jim and Tania Hoggins of Orange Beach donated two TV's to replace the two stolen from the station and David Rimmer of Tillmans Corner donated dishes. The station had been closed while under going some repairs and firefighters were due to move back in on Monday, April 30, 2001. On Sunday, April 29, 2001 Mobile Police notified Mobile Fire-Rescue Department there had been a break in at the vacant station. The thieves took a lawn mower, shop vac, 2 19" TVs 2 cordless phones, cable box, VCR, radio charger, microwave along with dishes, eating utensils, pots and pans, cups and bowls. There were a number of other items taken as well. Many of the items taken were bought by the firefighters housed at the fire station and would have to come out of their own pocket for replacement. Thanks to these concerned individuals the cost will not be as high. Captain Jerry Pryor, who is assigned to the station, is quoted as saying, "These people have shown a lot of compassion and concern for the members of the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department. These special individuals are special to us. They responded in a way that has touched our hearts and we thank them for it." So far no one has been apprehended in the theft. Anyone with information should contact the Mobile Police Department at 208-7211 or Crimestoppers at 208-7000.
