Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org CONDO FIRE ON OLD SHELL ROAD A Fire occurred at Springhill Oaks Condominiums located at 3655 Old Shell Road this morning, January 10 at approximately 8:30 a.m. Fire was in unit 126. Firefighters reported heavy smoke in the upstairs unit upon arrival. Fire occurred in the living room and spread throughout but firefighters did an excellent job of stopping the fire from spreading to any other units. The cause is under investigation at this time, appears accidental but there were several things in the area the fires origin that could have started it and investigators want to confirm some things with the occupant. The occupant was out of town at time of fire and fire investigators still have not been able to reach her as of this writing. No injuries reported. Damage is estimated at $50 thousand. Engines 12, 15, 18; truck 10; rescue 18 and District Chief Dexter Pettaway responded. The Bureau of Fire Prevention is investigating. ###
