FIRE IN LAUNDRY ROOM OF ADAM'S MARK HOTEL
Mobile Firefighters responded to the report of smoke coming from the Adam's Mark Hotel located downtown at 64 South Water Street at Government Street. The fire was reported at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, June 18, 2002. When firefighters arrived they reported smoking coming from the roof and requested a second alarm be assigned to the call. The hotel had already begun evacuated the building prior to the firefighters arrival. Firefighters discovered a fire on the fourth floor laundry room and quickly extinguished it. The second alarm was also downgraded and second alarm units were cancelled. The fire appears to have originated in the lint catcher of a large sheet dryer and extended into above the vents overhead. The fire was confined to that area. No injuries were reported. No damage estimate is available.
