The fire was reported at approximately 9:11 p.m. and firefighters arrived on the scene at approximately 9:16 p.m. reporting the single story, wood frame structure fully involved with fire. The female occupant told fire investigators she was asleep when the smoke alarm woke her up. She encountered heavy smoke and fire in the kitchen as she made her escape without injury. The fire is being ruled as accidental, caused by an oven being used as a heater. The fire caused an estimated $50 thousand in damage. Engines 2, 9, 11; truck 17; rescue 3 and District Chief John Young responded. The Bureau of Fire Prevention investigated the fire. ###
