HOUSE FIRE ON FIELDING PLACE
Firefighters responded to the report of a house fire on Wednesday morning, October 12, located at 104 Fielding Place off Old Shell Road. The call was received at approximately 10:15 a.m. reporting smoke coming from the second floor of the three-story, brick home and that someone may still be inside. Firefighters arrived shortly after reporting smoke and fire coming from the second floor of the structure. A quick check confirmed that no one was home.
Due to the size of the house and the amount of smoke and fire visible, a second alarm assignment was called for to bring in additional personnel.
The fire appears to have started on the second floor living area in the kitchen where the heaviest fire damage was noted. The first floor which contained bedrooms, received moderate smoke and water damage. The third floor, which also contained bedrooms, received heavy heat and smoke damage.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and further information will be released as it becomes available.
Damage is estimated at $75 thousand. No injuries were reported.
Engines 12, 15, 18, 22, 26; trucks 5, 10; rescues 18, 23; District Chief Dexter Pettaway and Captain John Pitt responded. The Bureau of Fire Prevention is conducting the investigation.
