JUNE FIREFIGHTER OF THE MONTH
On Wednesday morning, June 30, 2004, the Pleasant Valley Optimist Club honored Firefighter Roger Cochran as the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department's June Firefighter of the Month. Cochran was nominated by his Captain/Supervisor Virgil F. Christian because consistently performs his duties in an exemplary and highly professional manner. He is a valued member of this crew and through his actions, he has demonstrated superior performance and attention to duty. Cochran's specific accomplishments for this honor would include:
In addition to performing his duties as a firefighter, he routinely performs as a qualified and very capable swing driver (fill in driver). He has been serving in this role for the last 4 years.
He is very competent and capable Emergency Medical Technician. He rides on the rescue truck on a regular basis; maintaining a positive attitude and improving his medical skills in order to become more of an asset on the ambulance.
He takes the time and effort to become more familiar with the duties and responsibilities of the Driver, Captain and the Firemedics. This is inclusive of the paperwork that is involved with duty.
Cochran takes a positive approach to training, drills and business inspections. He works well with every member of the station; to include all shifts and is well respected by peers I the department.
Cochran uses his knowledge and experience to assist others at the station. His willingness to help others helps out immensely when the company is in training or on the scene of an emergency.
Cochran has been with the department for over 5 years.
