MARCH FIREFIGHTER OF THE MONTH
The March Firefighter of the Month was nominated by his Supervisor Captain Mack D. Reed because he gives more than a 100% in all the duties assigned to him. The Pleasant Valley Optimist Club who sponsors the monthly ceremony presented firefighter Edgar J. English the honor on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at the Tiny Diny Restaurant. According to his Captain, Edgar, who is assigned to Engine 19 on Azalea Road, works well with all his fellow firefighter and is excellent with patients they are sent to help on Emergency Medical Calls. Edgar is concerned about his health and works out daily to be in the best shape possible so he can pull his own weight at fires and other activities he may be involved in. He assists the District Chief assigned to that district with his paperwork and manpower without being told or ask to do so. He also shares in the cooking responsibilities around the station. Edgar is not just satisfied with coming in and doing his job he is taking it a step further by attending college to better himself for himself and his career. Edgar is a very dedicated employee and doesn't hesitate to help his fellow man in whatever way he can. A picture can be found on the departments web site with this release.
