Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (334) 208-5806/Fax: (334) 208-5813 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org MOBILE FIREFIGHTERS ASSIST SARALAND WITH APARTMENT FIRE Saraland, Alabama - Firefighters from Mobile Fire-Rescue responded to assist Saraland Firefighters with an apartment fire early Monday morning, February 12, 2001. Saraland Fire Department called Mobile for assistance with a fire at the Northgate Apartment complex, located at 205 Shelton Beach Road, around 2:00 a.m. this morning. Mobile Fire-Rescue Department dispatched 3 units and a District Chief to assist. When Mobile Firefighters arrived they advised an entire building in the complex was engulfed in flames. The exact number of apartment units in the building is unknown. Firefighters had the fire contained and out around 3:45 a.m. There were no civilian injuries reported but apparently one Saraland firefighter received injuries while fighting the blaze. The extent of his injuries is unknown. Saraland Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire and damage estimate. Engines 14, 21, truck 10 and District 3 Chief John D. Young responded to assist. ###
