Mobile Fire-Rescue Department was dispatched at about 1:56 p.m. to the area of 1911 Oak Knoll Drive for a report of a gas leak after a natural gas line was ruptured during construction in the area in Tuesday, April 29, 2025, in Mobile, Alabama.
Firefighters arrived on scene and evacuated a few apartment residents near and downwind of the area of the leak. After air levels were checked to make sure it was safe, residents were allowed to return.
Units from MFRD were remaining on scene to help maintain a safe zone until Spire could shut off the flow of gas. At 3:38 p.m., the leak was stopped. There were no reports of any injuries.
