REMINDER FROM FIRE OFFICIALS OF NO BURNING LAWS
Officials from the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department wish to remind those living in the City Limits of Mobile that there has been a Permanent "Burn Ban Ordinance" since 1989. Thus making it unlawful to have any open burning in the City of Mobile. Also since 1999 the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) has issued a ban on all open burning in Mobile County during the months of May through September. Because of the ADEM ban the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department has also banned all open burning in it's Public Safety Jurisdiction during the mentioned months. The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department during this time will issue no permits to burn in its jurisdiction. Anyone caught burning in the City limits or in the jurisdiction during the ban months could be issued a ticket for approximately $172.00 and ADEM could also issue additional fines in conjunction with that. Contact ADEM for additional information pertaining to the May through September burn ban.
