9:09 AM: Mobile Fire-Rescue Department companies responded to the 400 block of South Sage Avenue for a residential fire. Upon arrival on scene, personnel confirmed heavy smoke billowing from a 2-story residence. The occupants safely evacuated the home prior to emergency personnel arrival. Residents advised that fire was noticed in the kitchen before they fled the structure.
Firefighters made entry to begin the initial fire attack in the kitchen area. Search teams swept through the home to confirm all occupants were outside.
Flames were found to have extended into the walls and climbing to the second floor and attack. Firefighters quickly extinguished all sources of flames, with no reported injuries.
The cause of the fire is deemed accidental, pending further investigation.
